In memory of Kevin Carter, Pulitzer Prize 1994
There's a terrifying, subversive photo
Where a famished African child
Is threatened by a huge vulture at her back
Such a photo makes me rage in fire
Drives me to tears of frustration
Black child, Black child dying of hunger
In slums of Lisbon or in the fields of Sudan
Black child, Black child, I’m you. We are you
The entire humankind dying
Beset by the vulture of transnational capitalism
Where a famished African child
Is threatened by a huge vulture at her back
Such a photo makes me rage in fire
Drives me to tears of frustration
Black child, Black child dying of hunger
In slums of Lisbon or in the fields of Sudan
Black child, Black child, I’m you. We are you
The entire humankind dying
Beset by the vulture of transnational capitalism

EL BUITRE
"We have made his roten flesh our food"
Alexander Search (Fernando Pesoa)
Hay una subversiva y terrible
fotografía
donde una niñita africana
fragilísima
a punto de fallecer de hambre
es amenzada
por un gran buitre
a sus espaldas.
Esa foto me hace llorar
me hace rabiar de frustración
e impotencia
Niño negro
nino negro
que mueres de hambre
en los barrios de Lisboa
o en los campos de Sudán
Niño negro
niño negro
soy tú
somos tú
la humanidad moribunda
acechada por el buitre
del capitalismo transnacional.
